Mardi Gras Party Invitations

Friday, January 15th, 2010

Mardi Gras begins on February 16, 2010 – “Fat Tuesday”. Mardi Gras is the last day of the ‘period of carnival’. This is between January 6th and Ash Wednesday and marks the arrival of Lent. Mardi Gras is most widely known for crazy parties, colorful parades, beads, king cakes and other wild party celebrations. Many locations host Mardi Gras celebrations, most widely known in New Orleans, Quebec, Rio de Janeiro an Sinaloa. It is a short but lively celebration.

When hosting your February event, why not have a Mardi Gras themed party for all guests to enjoy? Each guest can bring a favorite cajun themed dish to share and you can pass out beads for rewards after party games or daring acts. Serve a king’s cake instead of a traditional birthday cake and note that the person who finds the baby Jesus will have luck with money for the entire next year.

Our Mardi Gras invitations are full of purple, green, yellow and blue hues and feature beads, masks, streamers, confetti, cocktails, jazz players and feathers. Ask your guests to ‘come as they aren’t’ in a funky costume or wearing a mask. Our invitations range from fun and casual to full on formal Mardi Gras themed events. Etiquette – Writing 2010

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

Every time a new year comes up we all have to get used to writing it out long-hand, but still want to write it correctly for that year. I see the year written with our without the word “and”, both being correct, however I wanted to do some research on this to find out why there are two ways to write the year:

Two thousand ten – or – Two thousand and ten

As it turns out, “Two thousand ten” is the American version of 2010 written out. It should be used on a wedding invite when you use the words “favor” and “honor”. “Two thousand and ten” is actually the British version of 2010 written out. It should be used when using the words “favour” and “honour”. Who would have thought? For formal invites I tend to lean toward the British version of wedding wording, however either is correct. Remember to start the year on its own line beginning with one capital letter on “Two”. Everything else should be lower case.

So next time you go to write out your text, remember that consistency is important as it signifies elegance, poise and formality. Choose your invitation wording – British or English – and go with that for the entire ensemble.

Valentine’s Day Dinner Ideas

Friday, January 8th, 2010

If you’re coupled up for this Valentine’s Day holiday, you may be pondering how to make this Valentine’s Day special for your loved one, be it a new love or an old flame. Follow these great tips and ideas to begin planning a night he or she will never forget…

РFlowers РOkay, so this is a little clich̩, however every girl loves to receive flowers. Go with traditional red roses or go a step beyond and surprise her in the morning with a bouquet of her favorite flowers, letting her know that you considered her favorites in your V-Day plans.

– Set a romantic setting for your Valentine’s Day dinner with candles and a lit fire if you have a fireplace. Put on some soothing or classical music in the background and invite him or her to dinner a few minutes before it is ready.

– Set a table with a candle in the center and possibly a card at your date’s place setting. You can even put a Valentine’s Day stuffed animal in their chair to wait for them to sit.

– Prepare your date’s favorite meal or try a new dish with a recipe from a Food Network or cooking website.

– For dessert make a chocolate confection or make sugar cookies ahead of time with a loving message for your date in colorful icing.

The rest of the evening is yours to plan, be it a movie, romantic walk in the snow or a relaxing conversation with wine by a fire. Follow these tips and you’ll be sure to have a Valentine’s Day she’ll never forget.

Winter Invitations

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

For most of us in the US, it feels like a frozen tundra outside! Schools are canceling classes, airplane flights are delayed and our weather is bringing a whole new meaning to a typical snow day.

Instead of fearing the cold, celebrate this long-lasting cold weather by hosting a wintery white celebration for your friends, neighbors and co-workers to attend. Winter parties can be as casual as serving up hot chocolate and having a fire to roast marshmallows outside while the kids go sledding to as formal as an elegant affair or “white party” where everyone dons their all-white attire, sips wine and has a fancy dinner. has a vast array of invitations that are perfect for winter themed parties for kids or adults, casual or formal events.

So instead of hiding out in this blustery winter weather, celebrate the snow with those that you love and host a totally fun winter extravaganza!

Ballet Themed Kids Party Invitations

Wednesday, January 6th, 2010

“Ballerina girl, you are so lovely…”

When trying to think of your child’s next birthday party theme, choose a hobby that she eats, breathes and sleeps like ballet! Our ballet themed party invitations are great for kids ages three and up! We have a variety of invitations, fill-in invitations, stickers and even stuffed animals, (like Zoe Ballerina), to coordinate with your event.

When planning your daughter’s ballet themed party, you may want to check with your child’s dance school to see if they offer parties. If not, do a local search for dance academies in your area to see who is offering party classes. Ask your guests to wear their favorite dance attire or provide them with tutus as they arrive. For the cost-conscious parent you can even have a ballet themed party in your home and break the kids into groups to plan a dance to perform at the end of the party for all guests and parents to see. Be sure to bring your video camera to remember the moment and show to the kids when they are older.
