Hors D’oeuvres? Hors d’Oeuvres? hors d’oeuvres? How in the world to you capitalize/spell this crazy word?

This topic of discussion was brought up over a customer’s order last week and it always makes me want to share when someone stumps the copywriter! Hors d’oeuvres is a French word used to describe small finger foods or appetizers served before a meal or with no meal afterward, depending on the event. They are typically part of a reception or cocktail hour.

When spelling horsd’oeuvres I had to do some research on what is actually correct. There are actually two ways to spell/capitalize the word:

hors d’oeuvres or Hors d’Oeuvres or Hors d’oeuvres
