Spring is right around the corner! Okay, not really, but in the wedding world, we are always two steps ahead, which is exactly how you have to be when you’re planning a wedding. Save the date cards should be mailed out 6-8 months before your wedding so that your guests can make travel arrangements and reserve the date from any other events which may take place. This will make sure all of your family and friends can attend.
Our newest save the date cards feature floral designs and patterns that will be a refreshing accent after the winter ahead. Add a digital photograph of the married couple-to-be and you’ll create an early keepsake for your wedding event. For those who don’t want to share a photo, we also have modern save the date cards that feature wedding rings, floral vines, beach or chapel scenes.
Your save the date card gives a little preview of the event ahead, however it does not need to match or coordinate with your wedding invitation. So if you want to have a reserved and formal wedding invitation and a wild, crazy and fun save the date card…go ahead! Your save the date card should not upstage your wedding invitation. It is simply there to let your guests know of your engagement and ask them to hold your special date. This is also helpful for couples who have not chosen a specific wedding theme or wedding colors yet.
When writing your save the date card, be sure to include the bride and groom’s name, date you will be married followed by the location. The location does not need to be extremely specific, (i.e. name of the hotel or reception site). A city and state will be appropriate. You can also include a wedding website, as many modern couples create, to introduce your guests to you as a couple, your bridal party and give extra details about your registry and wedding event(s).
