The holidays create such a warm and inviting time of year…a time to get together with family and friends and celebrate love, selflessness and life. A time to give back to your friends, family or community. With the joy and magic that the holidays bring, at InvitationBox.com we always notice the amount of engagement party celebrations peak, which can only mean one thing…the boys are getting down on one knee to propose during this special time of year!!
I was assisting a customer today who was planning a surprise holiday engagement party for her daughter and her fiance and I couldn’t help but think what a great idea this was. The bride and groom are hardly ever surprised anymore as they are pretty much involved in every part of their wedding planning. Hosting a surprise party in their honor is a great way to kick-off the wedding planning and celebrate two becoming one! With the holidays around it is also very easy to ‘trick’ the bride and groom into attending a holiday party without any prior suspicions. This particular customer was planning the surprise engagement celebration for new years eve. What better way to celebrate the new year than with all of your family members and friends together in one room? It’s also a great way to mix the two different families into one so that everyone can get to know each other before the wedding.
When planning a holiday engagement party it is important to send your invitations out well in advance of your event. If you think about it, it’s the holiday season and so many people make prior engagements and plans to travel. You want to make sure that your invitation is there before anyone else’s. I would suggest sending your invitations out at least a month prior to your event. When planning your engagement party invitations, it’s important to reflect the formality of your event into your invitation choice. With the holidays being a special time of year, you may want to go a step forward and host a more formal event with holiday attire. Or, maybe even set the event as a black tie affair, especially if you are celebrating the new year as well. At InvitationBox.com we have a plethora of new formal party designs which will set the tone for your engagement party invitations. Check out some of our newest designs below…
Not really one that likes to be surprised? Flip the switch and surprise your guests!!! For those that get engaged during November and December, try keeping it a secret from some of your friends and host your traditional new years party, as planned. A few minutes before midnight, have the bride and groom propose a toast and right before the clock strikes 12, announce to your guests that you’re engaged! The excitement for the new year will be x 2!!
