Dig out those old leg warmers, and tease up your hair. Find those old bangles you hid away and grab your favorite Madonna CD…we’re taking a trip back to the 80’s!! This weekend I went to a concert and saw the band Madd Elaine play, which is a rockin’ 80’s cover band out of Raleigh, NC. Being born in the 80’s, and not so much ‘living’ in it, I was a bit apprehensive at first, but was pleasantly surprised by how great the music and 80’s genre makes you feel – with hits from Pat Benatar, Journey, Michael Jackson and Cindy Lauper…which made me think – this would be a great theme at your next party…and I certainly wanted to share!
The 80’s were a great time with the birth of MTV and the expansion of fashion into the media…based on what we saw our idols wearing on TV. We teased our hair, wore some crazy colored make up and accessorized to the max. Walking around you’d see guys in neon parachute pants, layered ankle and tube socks, converse shoes, jellies, oversized shirts, stirrup pants and the ever-famous puffy sleeves. It was a great time when life was carefree and all about the boldest, brightest fashions.
Take that rock-out, ‘havin’ a good time’ feeling to your next party by hosting a decades party with a decade themed party invitation to set the scene. Ask your guests to don their favorite 80’s attire, or come up with a new 80’s style of their own. Give a prize to the person with the best 80’s outfit, and encourage all to participate. Be sure to set your party scene with 80’s music in the background to rock out to. You can even host a dance contest to see who does the MC Hammer the best!
Our 80’s themed invitations feature vibrant neon signs, cassette tapes, boom boxes, animal print and your favorite 80’s characters dressed to impress. If you think your friends might need some suggestions for what to wear, you may want to choose the character 80’s invitations which feature friends dressed in typical 80’s fashion. Use some radical wording that will take you back to the 80’s…and tell your guests to be there or be square!
