Wait a minute…Christmas isn’t for another five months?! That’s way too long to wait to see family and spread cheer and joy to others. And Santa needs to enjoy the sun and get a tan too! Christmas in July parties are a great way to get together with family, friends, neighbors and co-workers to try to beat the heat in the summer months, while celebrating the parts of the holidays you love the most, whether it’s the food, the decorations, the people, the activities or the presents!
When planning a Christmas in July party you can use it for a theme for your bridal shower, adult birthday party or maybe even just use it as an excuse to get the gang together in the summertime. Or, use it as an ‘end of summer kick-off’ to the winter months ahead! Ask each guest to bring a favorite holiday dish to share at the party, whether it’s Christmas cookies, Grandma’s famous macaroni and cheese or those coconut macaroons that never last more than ten minutes on the table. If kids are attending your event, have fun games for them to play, be it a Christmas word search, coloring book pages, Christmas character foamies to glue together or maybe have them make a batch of cookies to share with the other guests.
Play a fun game with the adults like ‘Dirty Santa’ where you each bring a gift to the party and swap them out until you receive the perfect gift…just make sure you don’t get the white elephant gift! Host your party poolside, if the weather outside is frightfully hot. Decorate blow up palm trees with Christmas lights and serve up some chilly cocktails with a minty holiday flare. Ask your guests to wear Santa hats, as it will be too hot to come dressed in the traditional holiday attire or ugly Christmas sweater. Be sure to keep your camera handy to take lots of pictures about how you celebrated the holidays in July.
