Wedding Ideas – Wishing Stone Guest Book

Tuesday, February 5th, 2013

Being a blogger for a stationery company, I have no choice but to be a wedding fanatic.  One of my favorite things about attending a wedding is seeing all of the creative ideas that brides come up with to turn a traditional ceremonial event into a modern masterpiece!  This weekend one of’s very own typesetters tied the knot with a gorgeous barn wedding out in Pittsboro, North Carolina, and she had the most creative idea for a guest book that I’ve ever seen…thus I just had to share!

As you walked into the wedding reception area, a table was sitting to the left of the door where a traditional guest book would be waiting.  However, instead of a guest book, there was a tan basket with an array of pale white and black stones that were about the size of your palm, or a bit smaller.  Inside a glass container next to the basket were four sharpies, two black and two silver.  A frame instructed you to leave a few wishes, words of wisdom or advice for the bride and groom on each of the stones.

A group of us marveled over this creative idea from the bride and groom.  We instantly began searching Pinterest for the perfect quote or saying to leave for the newlyweds, and then after hand writing them onto the stones, we signed the back.  What a great and fun idea this was!  If you’re married, how often do you actually look back at your guest book after your wedding day?  Probably only once on a reminiscent day. This new creative idea, wishing stones, allowed your guests to give you well wishes which will be remembered forever, and can be displayed in the bride and groom’s home.  After the wedding the bride and groom will read their wishing stones as they place them in a clear jar or black bowl for all to see.  Where can you purchase these amazing wedding wishing stones?  We found them on The Papery Nook on Etsy!

Wine & Wedding Rings

May our love be like good wine and grow stronger as it ages…There’s really no place like a vineyard to set the scene for your wedding – it’s vintage, eclectic and offers one of the most gorgeous color palettes that is extremely easy to work with when planning your big day.  Wineries also offer a gorgeous backdrop to your big day, which is perfect for brides on a budget, as your scenery is taken care of for you, just by the beauty of the land!

I was inspired to write and collage this blog for you today by this brand new bridal shower invitation here on the left, Wine and Wedding Rings, by Noteworthy Collections.  It shows off our brand new circle-style invitation and the edge of this grey card are decorated with magenta and purple rings and splatters that look like wine rings, (and elude to the iconic wedding rings worn by the happy couple)!

If you’re planning a vineyard themed wedding, a wine tasting bridal shower is the perfect way to set the theme for your wedding, and introduce your guests into the wonderful world of fine wines.  Perhaps you’ll invite your bridal shower guests to the winery where you and the groom fell in love, and show them where the magic began.  A wine tasting bridal shower will create a relaxing atmosphere for your guests, and beautiful scenery to help you celebrate your special day.

After your bridal shower tasting, you can then set the scene for your wine themed wedding with wine wedding invitations.  When planning a wine wedding reception, be sure to offer your guests an array of wines to taste and try at your reception.  You may even want to ask if the wine maker has any special wine that he could serve to your guests in your honor, with the characteristics of the happy couple.  A sunset wedding makes a beautiful backdrop for your big day, as the sun light shines through the vines of the vineyard, and sundown offers a cool atmosphere for dancing later in the evening.

As your guests arrive, direct your guests to their tables with wine cork place cards or table cards set up on wine barrels.  Create simple and gorgeous table centerpieces with bunches of grapes and grape vines, as well as fun little cards to help the hosts reading, “Please…don’t take my drink…I’m dancing!”  Simple and elegant is the way to go with your wedding cake.  Think a simple white or ivory cake with vine details on the outer layers, along with a lavender or vine detail as the topper or separating layers.  Get inspired to create your own vineyard themed wedding with the below wine wedding collage, and of course, Eat.  Drink. & Be Married!
